Welcome to our Victorian Walled Garden Nursery, housing one of the most remarkable collections of beautiful plants in the region.

2010 will see a change of emphasis at PENNARD PLANTS.

Gone, finally are the grasses, irises, eucomis and other perennials, instead the nursery is concentrating on our collection of Agapanthus, considerably increasing production and adding many new and exclusive varieties.

We shall still offer in addition to the Agapanthus, Nerines, and Rhodohypoxis, Dieramas and Gladiolus papillio and hybrids.

For many years now we have been offering our unique range of Heritage Vegetable Seeds which many of you have grown with complete satisfaction. Indeed, we still continue to enjoy the fruits of our labours from those that we grow in our trial vegetable garden.

Last year we added to this range Heritage Vegetable Plants, Seed Potatoes and many other items for the kitchen garden which can be delivered to your door using our secure on-line ordering system.

From autumn 2009 we are adding to this range with the addition of Soft Fruit plants, Heritage Apples and Pear trees and a small range of carefully chosen sundries for the kitchen garden.

At Shrewsbury and Southport Flower Shows in 2009 we exhibited a range of flowers easily grown from seed and suitable for cut flowers and for drying. These were so well received that we are adding these varieties to our seed range and hope to build on the ‘varieties that Grandma grew’!

We have also made another decision for 2010; we will no longer open the nursery for one day a week. It has put considerable pressure on staffing and we feel it better to deal with our customers on a ‘by appointment’ basis when we can ensure someone is there to deal with the questions. We will however continue with certain ‘Open Days’ which will be advertised in our ‘News Room’, and in addition will be running  ‘Masterclasses’ during the year on Vegetable Growing and the cultivation of  Agapanthus.

Our main event for 2010 will be our ‘Agapanthus Open Day’ to be held on Saturday 17th July 2010.
